St'át'imc have been negotiating with BC Hydro for over 18 years. Our chiefs have fought hard for this agreement.
A Shared Vision
We are the rightful owners of our tribal territory, and everything pertaining thereto. We have always lived in our Country; at no time have we ever deserted it, or left it to others.
Development Without Consultation
In the last century, Hydro developments were made on our territory without consultation. Power lines have extended over our communities as a reminder.
Negotiations
We have been working relentlessly on these negotiations since 1993, and are confident we are presenting the best possible deal for the St’át’imc.
Our Lives Have Been Changed Forever
We have been devastated by disease, our land has been stolen, and we've been exiled to reserves. We've been stripped of our inheritance. Generations were stolen. Our people have suffered. The truth is told.
Working Together
The St'át'imc Chiefs and BC Hydro have worked together to negotiate a settlement and agreement, including a water use plan and a relationship agreement.
